"Once a Micronaut scientist of high repute, the entity known as Mortus is a malevolent, almost demonic force of destruction. His once great scientific mind lead him down an evil path of self destruction when he discovered a parallel universe to that of the Microverse known ever therafter as the Negaverse. For once he stepped through the portal that connected the dimension of the Negaverse with that of his own his very essence was was turned inside out and his physical body agonizingly discorperated."

"How the now twisted, demonic entity was able to gather his essence again into tangible form and return to the Microverse is still a mystery, but his reapearance was marked by wake of death and destruction never before seen in Innerspace. Brave Micronauts managed to push back the terrible tyrant and he retreated to the Dead Zone- an area of the Microverse deemed dangerous and uninhabitable by Micronaut scientists- to rest and regain his strength. When and where this maniacal abomination will strike again is unknown, but the whole of Innerspace trembles at the thought of his return. "

Created by Micro-fanatic Mike Danza, the entity known as Mortus has been brought to...life? Mike has written a little background on him that describes Mortus as a Micronaut scientist who's experiments go horribly wrong. He wanted it to be as recognizable as possible that he used to be a Time Traveler. He used the Palisades black TT body and the skull head is from an "Emperors Wrath" Darth Vader figure from the new Star Wars line. If your not familiar with that line or that figure the skull (which glows in the dark, by the way) is encased in a semi clear (I guess Micro-philes would call it "smoked") PVC Darth Vader helmet with glowing lightning bolts painted on it to mimic the effects of the final battle between Vader and the Emperor at the end of Return of the Jedi. He removed the head, carved the PVC helmet away from the skull, darkened the sockets, and put it on the TT body. The helmet is made from a plastic test tube cut to size with the shoulder areas Dremmeled out and a strip of polystyrene glued around it to separate the dome from the black, lower portion of the helmet.

The chest piece was painted black and then dusted with a metallic "flip flop" powder which changes from blue to green depending on how the light hits it. The scythe (whose blade also glows in the dark thanks to a little glow in the dark paint) is from a Gundam Deathscythe model. The very cool chamber was part of a Cryofreeze Will Robinson figure from the Lost in Space film. Mike remembers buying it because it reminded him of the Micronauts Pharoids Time Chamber. He painted it gloss black and used Bare Metal Foil for the silver trim.

Mike has ended off his custom project with some great diorama shots of the evil Mortus in action! Check out Mortus' insectoid steed, in a picture entitled "Bugrider" in the Gallery section of ISO. Many thanks to Mike for supplying the pics and words, and here's to looking forward to many more great custom jobs from him in the future!
