![]() | Remember in the 70's, leafing through comic books, and you would come to the ad pages? Remember how they advertised all sorts of toys, both comic, superhero, and sci-fi related? Remember how they were all "hand drawn" and you wanted to buy all of it? Well, in 1978, a toy chain called Heroes World in New Jersey put out their own catalog full of these ads, but it was made to look just like a comic book. A comic book full of ads! Actually, this "comic book catalogue" had a lot of work put into it. Since each page had written text, and was hand illustrated, it took a team of writers, letterers and colorists (before the days of computers) to put it all together. Most of the artwork was done by legendary comic artist Joe Kubert and many students from his School of Cartoon and Graphic art. |

Thousands
of comic and sci-fi related toys and items were featured, including Micronauts,
Mego World's Greatest Superheroes and related stuff, Star Wars, Shogun Warriors,
and more comic posters, books and portfolios. Actually, this catalog was better
than some Christmas catalogs, especially if you loved comic books... |
