| The original Mego Micronaut Aliens all had a common theme running through them; their creepy glow-in-the-dark removable brains. This was a very succesful feature for the toy line, and was very popular among collectors. Palisades decided to take this feature to a new level and take it one step further, and the result is the new Series 1.5 Radioactive Membros...who's entire body now glows in the dark! In April of 2002, as production was commencing on the new Palisades Micronauts line, a poll was created on the Yahoo! Micropolis Embassy mailing list website. The poll consisted of choices for an additional figure to be made in a very limited run, as an exclusive for the mailing list members. The winner was of course the very limited Bioscan Membros...and one of the runners up was Radioactive Membros. Palisades decided not to let this great idea go to waste, and another evil Alien was born. |
Released
and sold only as a set of 4 in March of 2003 through Palisades
website, the new 1.5 Membros has been re-tooled at the new factory, and comes
equipped with all the same accessories the other Palisades Membri come with...except
that the entire figure with extras has now been cast in the same glow-in-the-dark
creepy green plastic. The brain is still the soft and squishy yellow g-i-t-d plastic
it was before, and makes for a very cool looking Alien invader. Also included
is the S1.5 clear figure stand. |

The
Series 1.5 set also comes with a few new changes besides the CGI art and tweaking
of the QC problems...the card color has been changed to red to differentiate it
from Series 1, and the Dave Dorman collector card/sticker art has been changed
in house at Palisades to reflect the new color schemes. |
The
Radioactive Membros also has new file card text that reads: "A sight
any Micronaut explorer dreads detecting in his Bioscanners, these radioactive
wraiths haunt the battle fields of Visceros. The deadly Membros wanders the dark
craters of it's home world, stalking friend and foe alike, polluted by radiation
spilling from the fractured atomic piles once powering their demolished Terraphant
battletanks." The Microbyte continues: "Pale green glowing plastic
was a popular "hot" feature of many 1970's toys, models and games. The
glowing brains of the six Micronaut aliens were their key common feature."
The new Series 1.5 set is a welcomed addition to the world of the Micronauts.
