| Toward
the end of the Micronauts run, Mego began creating its own vehicles as
well as figures, in addition to licencing the newer and existing ones
from Takara. The Solarion was one of these. Released in 1979 in a box,
This vehicles design would be used many times over throughout different
Mego lines. Molded in red, yellow, and white plastic, Solarion was an
odd looking mode of transportation. |

| The
main body has a clear snap-on canopy, and 5mm holes held a horizontal
control wing fitted with 2 vertical control wings on the top, while a
wind up motor fit underneath in the back. This chrome motor would be used
again in numerous Micronaut vehicles, due to its adapability with the
5mm peg/hole system. When holding the wheels (fitted with rubber tires)
you could turn the white nob in a clockwise direction. When released,
the wheels would spin propelling the vehicle forward. A surplus of these
motors would later be released mainly in the Canadian markets as a 3 pack
        carded set. | |

addition was that of a double ski pod brace fitted with 2 skis, which
plugged into a 5mm hole in the front top of the body, and a single ski
leg which went underneath. The Solarion design was used again with the
Micronauts Star Defender as side cars, molded in different colors. Mego
also used it again in the Pocket Super Heroes line: twice for Spider Man
almost idetically as the Shuttle Glider, and again recolored as the Spider
Mobile, and for Batman recolored as the Bat
Shuttle. Solarion was packaged with instructions and a sticker sheet.
